Security services provide security, data integrity, and compliance for university activities. Services in this category include security services such as virus protection and encryption; services relating to authentication, access, and role-based provisioning; and services that provide a secure computing environment for end users, including endpoint intrusion prevention, malware protection and remediation, and application-level security.

Identity and Access Management

To access many authenticated university services and create accounts, new students, department sponsored guests, faculty, and staff must first activate their UIC NetID. New students, and department sponsored external affiliates will use the “UIC NetID Activation” page to activate their NetID. Faculty, and staff will go through, “UI New Hire” portal to activate their NetID.

Qualys is a cloud-based vulnerability scanner and threat detector which comes with the ability to run IP based targeted scans or install a lightweight agent on endpoints for continuous monitoring. Qualys not only discovers threats and vulnerabilities but offers known effective ways to solve these threats.

Security Awareness Training

Technology Solutions provides the KnowBe4 platform to deliver you the world's largest library of security awareness training content. The Technology Solutions Security and Privacy Office coordinates an annual training campaign, and units may provide supplemental training and conduct their own phishing simulations.

TLS Server Certificates

A required certificate to enable Transport Layer Security (TLS) operation on a server (typically a web server).
