There are two ways to complete the activation of your mobile device with Duo. You may use your phone camera to scan an on-screen barcode, or you can have an activation link emailed to you.
Make sure you have followed the instructions in Adding a Device to Duo 2FA before proceeding. You must be logged in to the identity.uillinois.edu website to follow the below instructions.
Option 1: Using your cellphone/tablet camera for Activation
While logged in to identity.uillinois.edu Follow the instructions shown on the screen to open Duo Mobile on your device, tap the '+' button, and scan the barcode on your screen with your camera.

Once successfully scanned you may be asked if you would like this device to be your favorite. This will only show when you have more than 1 device enrolled. The favorite device will be the first device shown in the drop down when authenticating with 2FA.
Option 2: Activate via email
- Select "Or have an activation link email to you instead"

- Enter your email address and select Send email

- Below is an example of the email you will be sent. You could open this email on your smartphone and click the link or type the link in your URL.

- Select Open

- On your smartphone select No Barcode:

University of Illinois should appear under the Duo Mobile App
