How do I resync my NetID password?

Tags netID

If you find that your NetID password is working for some systems but not others, it may be useful to try a password resync. This means that you will change your password to the same thing that it is currently set to so that your current password is sent to all systems.

To resync your password, do the following:

  1. Log into identity.uillinois.edu with your current NetID password.  If you are not able to log in, you will need to set a new password using your recovery options.  Instructions can be found here: I forgot my password, what should I do?

  2. Once logged in, click the "Change Password" button.

  3. Verify your password recovery options and then set your password to the exact same thing you logged in with. If your password was resynced, then you will receive a message like the one below. If your password expiration date does change, that is okay, but this means that you actually set a new password instead of doing a sync. This may be common for UI Health staff because you are able to use your UI Health password to log into the NetID center, but the password you reset through the system is your NetID password.
