About Exchange and Outlook
Microsoft Exchange and Outlook work together as the university’s email and calendaring system.
Exchange is the underlying Microsoft cloud service that stores and manages email, calendars, contacts, and meetings, while Outlook is the application clients use to access those services through the web, desktop, or mobile app.
At UIC, the terms “Outlook” and “Exchange” are often used interchangeably because they are part of the same Microsoft email platform.
