Connect to UIC-WiFi with Windows 10 and 8:

  1. Open the Settings menu and click on Networks
  2. Select the network named UIC-WiFi

  3. When prompted, enter your UIC NetID in the Username field, and your UIC Password in the Password field.

  4. Windows will pop up with a message about being unable to verify the server's identity. Please press connect. Now you will be able to connect to UIC-WiFi.

  5. Note that when you change your UIC password, you will need to forget the UIC-WiFi network, then follow the above steps to reconnect with your new credentials. To forget the network, follow these steps:
    1. Select the wireless icon on the lower right hand corner of your screen and select "Network & Internet settings"
    2. Select "Wi-fi" from the window that pops up
    3. Select "Manage Known networks"
    4. Select the "UIC-WiFi" network, then select "Forget"

  1. Open the Network and Sharing Center. The easiest way to do this is to right-click on the wireless icon in the notification area of the Windows Task Bar (bottom right) and select Open Network and Sharing Center.

2. Click Manage Wireless Networks from the menu in the blue area to the left.

  1. Click Add.

2. Choose Manually create a network profile.

3. Fill out/select the following on the next screen:

  1. Network name: UIC-WiFi (This has to be exactly UIC-WiFi because that is the name of the network.)
  2. Security type: WPA2-Enterprise
  3. Encryption type: AES
  4. Leave the Security Key blank.
  5. Select Start this connection automatically, then click Next.

4. Select Change connection settings.

5. In the Network Properties dialog box that appears:

  1. Click on the Security tab.
  2. Then click on the Settings button, next to the network authentication method which should be Protected EAP.

6. In the Protected EAP Properties dialog box:

  1. Make sure that the box next to Validate server certificate is checked
  2. Check the box next to Connect to these servers:
  3. Fill in the box below it with the following:

7. In the Trusted Root Certification Authorities section, check the box for AddTrust CA Root (if you do not see this cert in the list see Adding the CA Root Cert below.

8. Under Select Authentication Method:

  1. Make sure box next to Enable Fast Reconnect is checked
  2. Check the box next to Enable Identity Privacy, then fill in the text field with: Anonymous
  3. Make sure that Secure password (EAP-MSCHAP v2) is selected in the Select Authentication Method drop down list.
  4. Click the Configure... button next to the drop down list.

  5. In the new dialog uncheck Automatically use my Windows logon name... and click OK.
  6. Then click OK twice, to close the Protected EAP Properties dialog box and the UIC-WiFi Wireless Network properties boxes.
  7. At this point close the Manually connect to a wireless network wizard.
  8. Cick on the balloon by the notification area that says that Additional information is needed to connect to UIC-WiFi.

  9. Your NetID in the first text box and your Technology Solutions common password in the second. Click OK.
