What Is It?
Access to UIC's guest wireless network (UIC-Guest) is a privilege and all guests are required to abide by the UIC Guest Wireless Policy. There are three methods for guests to obtain wireless network access while on the UIC Campus: self-created guest access, staff-sponsored guest access and eduroam.

Self-created Guest Access
- Visitors to the UIC campus can self-create guest account credentials using the UIC-Guest Self Service Wireless Account Creation page (This page can only be accessed from on the UIC campus)
- To use this service you must be able to receive SMS text messages (standard text message rates apply) on your cell phone
- This service will not work with Google Voice
- Guests are allowed to create up to five accounts per semester
- Guest accounts created using this service expire 48 hours after they are created
Staff-sponsored Guest Access
- UIC faculty and staff may create guest wireless accounts for guests to the university that are active for up to two weeks using the Temporary Guest Wireless page
- These accounts may be pre-created and activated on a specified date which is ideal for scheduled visitors. Guest accounts created using this service are valid for up to two weeks
Requirements
- The guest credentials provided to you
- The wireless network’s certificate, which ensures that your device is actually connecting to UIC-Guest
- To be close enough to a UIC-Guest wireless access point.
Applicability
Everyone using the UIC wireless networks must abide by the Acceptable Use of Computational Resources Policy. There are additional bandwidth and file-sharing limitations on the networks, described in the Guest Wireless Policy
