How to Identify Clients Routing Email externally

To identify who is externally routing their email outside of the UI system in your unit, follow the steps below:

  1. Go to PBupdate.uic.edu.
  2. Log in with your NetID and password.
  3. In the upper left, set the "Search/Report type" drop-down to "Department - Email Detailed"
  4. Select the appropriate department from the dropdown list.
  5. Select "Search".
  6. The individuals in your department will display on the report, including their primary email address and the email address they are routing to.
  7. Select any cell in the body of the report and select "CTRL+T".  Select the check box for "My table has headers"; this will make the report list into a table.
  8. At the top-right of the report, select the down arrow next to "External Domain."  This will show you the list of external domain email addresses.
  9. Unfilter (uncheck) all of the UI email domain addresses.  This will leave the email addresses that are routed externally.  Examples of UI email domain addresses are below:

    • uillinois.edu
    • illinois.edu
    • uif.uillinois.edu
    • uic365.onmicrosoft.com
    • (Blanks)

  10. The filtered list will contain the clients that are routing university email externally.
