IP Address Management

About this service

Description IP Address Management enables IT professionals to manage Domain Name System (DNS) and Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP) configuration for their networks and zones, and registers and allocates DNS domains and IP address blocks on behalf of campus. DHCP allows a computer to automatically obtain an IP address when it joins a network, while DNS translates domain names like www.illinois.edu into numerical IP addresses.

Who can use the service Faculty/Staff
How to get the service IT Professionals listed in Contacts Database with "DNS Requests" permission may log in to IPAM Grid Manager and make changes to objects and records within those network(s) and domain(s).

Use the Domain Request Form to request a new domain.

Cost Each campus unit is eligible for one subdomain free of charge. Additional subdomains cost $10 per year. Approved vanity domains cost $10 per year plus registration, renewal, and/or transfer fees equal to the amount that Technology Services pays the registrar.

Maintenance hours Maintenance windows are the same as the campus Network.  Posted maintenance windows are: 5:30am-7:30am M-F, 5:30am-10:00am Sat, and 5:30-noon Sunday, however all outages require coordination with Public Safety.
