AITS - Business Objects - Shared Unit Folder and AD Group Affiliation Request

This service allows business units to request a shared unit folder in Business Objects and provide their Active Directory (AD) groups for folder security. AD groups control folder access only, not report data. Each folder should have two groups: a Publisher group for staff who can add reports, and a Viewer group for staff who can view but not modify folder contents.

Features and Benefits

  • The service provides a standardized, auditable, and secure method for managing shared unit folder permissions in Business Objects. Active Directory (AD) groups are owned and controlled by the respective unit. Folder access is determined by AD group membership and remains under the unit’s authority. Enterprise data access for reports within these folders continues to be managed by the Unit Security Contact and provisioned through standard enterprise access processes.

Who can use this offering?

All staff and faculty with appropriate permissions can have shared unit folders created.

Submit a request using the “Request Shared Unit Folder Change” button on this service page. Work with your OU Admins and ensure the AD group is created before submitting the form as the group details will be required.
