Equipment for Classroom Use

What Is It?

Faculty/Instructors are able to check out equipment for use in a particular class session.

Features

We currently have the following types of equipment available for reservation:

  • Display adapters to connect your device to the multimedia systems found in the classrooms
  • Wireless microphones for larger classrooms
  • Laptops for instructor use
  • Digital projectors
  • USB webcams/microphones
  • Various other equipment to meet your teaching needs!

Requirements

  • Checking out equipment is on a first-come, first-serve basis.
  • Reservations can only be made by professors for a specific class.
  • Checkouts are made for the duration of a class session and must be returned promptly to be available for other instructors. Equipment can be checked out from the LTS Support office at Stevenson Hall, Room 111.
  • Borrower shall not leave equipment unattended while checked out
  • Borrower may only check out one of each type of device at a time
  • Borrower may not redistribute equipment to any other person(s)
  • Borrower is solely responsible for the equipment checked out to them, until the equipment has been returned and checked back in. This includes but is not limited to:
    • damage/destruction
    • loss
    • theft due to negligence
    • late return
    • misuse of any kind
  • Borrower is solely responsible for any fines resulting from above mentioned occurrences
  • Borrower is required to submit a police report to the UIC Police immediately upon loss/theft of equipment and to provide the police report number to Technology Solutions within 24 hours
  • Borrower must abide by all university, state, and federal policies and laws regarding the appropriate use of the university network and computing resources
  • Failure to adhere to the conditions of use may result in the loss of equipment loan privileges
  • Having a suspended Technology Solutions account will prevent login access to the laptops loaned by the Technology Solutions
  • Technology Solutions reserves the right to deny an equipment loan request, based on UIC account suspension status, previous fines, intended use, or other factors
  • Borrower must be physically present and provide their valid UIC i-card to checkout equipment
  • The borrower will receive an email confirmation of the equipment checkout, detailing a checkout reference number, the equipment checked out, and return deadlines
  • There may be fees associated with obtaining equipment from Technology Solutions for non-course-related use
    • Fees vary based on the type of equipment needed, and the duration of the rental
    • These fees will be detailed and explained prior to equipment checkout
  • The above fees, as well as any fines, will be charged to borrower’s department CFOAP account

Equipment reserved for in-class use is checked out from the LTS Support office at Lecture Center E, room E112 (west side of the building).

This service is funded by the University; there are no direct costs to clients.

Service Request Fulfillment Time Immediate checkout at LTS Support Office. Reservations for faculty require 2 business days' notice
Incident Resolution Time Under 2 business days
Service Availability Based on hours of operation at lending locations (between 8:00am - 7:00pm in some locations and 9:00am - 5:00pm in others). Not available during Academic Calendar break periods
