How do I connect to UIC-WiFi?

Connecting to our wireless network through Windows is easy with your UIC NetID and password.

Step-by-Step Instructions

1. Open the Settings menu and click on Networks
2. Select the network named UIC-WiFi
   
   
    
3. When prompted, enter your UIC NetID in the Username field, and your UIC Password in the Password field.
   
   
    
4. Windows will pop up with a message about being unable to verify the server's identity. Please press connect. Now you will be able to connect to UIC-WiFi.
   
   
    
5. Note that when you change your UIC password, you will need to forget the UIC-WiFi network, then follow the above steps to reconnect with your new credentials. To forget the network, follow these steps:
   1. Select the wireless icon on the lower right hand corner of your screen and select "Network & Internet settings"
   2. Select "Wi-fi" from the window that pops up
   3. Select "Manage Known networks"
   4. Select the "UIC-WiFi" network, then select "Forget"

Step-by-Step Instructions

1. Open the Settings/System Preferences app on your device, and select Wi-Fi.
2. You will see a list of nearby wireless networks - choose UIC-WiFi from the list of options.
3. When prompted, enter your UIC NetID in the Username field, and your UIC Password in the Password field, then select OK.
4. If you are prompted to do so, Trust the security certificate.
5. Your device will now finish connecting to the network. Note that when you change your UIC password, you will need to forget the UIC-WiFi network, then follow the above steps to reconnect with your new credentials.

Connecting to UIC-WiFi using a Chromebook device is simple!

Step-by-Step Instructions

1. Select the wireless icon in the lower right-hand corner of the screen.
   
   
    
2. From the corresponding menu that appears after clicking the wireless icon, select the Wireless Network option.
   
   
    
3. Select UIC-WiFi
   
   
    
4. Make the following changes to the corresponding dialogue box (see graphic below text):
   • Select “PEAP” for EAP method
   • Select “MSCHAPv2” for Phase 2 authentication.
   • Select “Do not check” for Server CA certificate.
   • Make sure “None installed” is selected for User certificate, if prompted.
   • Enter your UIC NetID (not your full email address) in the “Identity” field.
   • Enter your UIC password in the “Password” field.
   • Leave “Anonymous Identity” blank.
   • Make sure “Save identity and password” is checked.
   • DO NOT check “Share this network with other users” if provided as an option.
     
     
     
     
      
5. After you have entered all the information in Step 4, Select Connect.
   
   
    
6. Your device should now be connected to the UIC-WiFi network. Note that when you change your UIC password, you will need to forget the UIC-WiFi network, then follow the above steps again to reconnect with your updated credentials.

Step-by-Step Instructions

1. While you are on campus, near a UIC-WiFi access point, go to your device settings and then to the section about Network & Internet.  Note that your device may have slightly different menus or wording since there are many different Android phone manufacturers.
   
   
    
2. Turn wireless on if it is currently turned off.
   
   
    
3. Select the network: UIC-WiFi
   
   
    
4. Use the following settings:
   • For EAP method select PEAP.
   • For Phase 2 authentication select MSCHAPV2.
   • For CA Certificate select "Use system certificates"
   • For Domain, use uic.edu 
   • For Identity use your UIC NetID. 
   • For Anonymous identity use Anonymous
   • For Wireless Password use your UIC NetID Password
     
     
      
5. Tap Connect.
    
6. You should now be connected to UIC-WiFi. Note that when you change your UIC password, you will need to forget the UIC-WiFi network, then follow the above steps to reconnect with your new credentials.

Step-by-Step Instructions

1. Press the Gear icon in the top right corner (settings button).
2. Select Wi-Fi from the drop-down menu.
3. Turn ON Wireless Networking.
4. For Connect to a network, select: UIC-WiFi
5. For EAP method, select: TTLS
6. For Phase 2 authentication, select: PAP
7. For CA certificate and User certificate, keep the default: (unspecified)
8. For Identity, enter your UIC NetID.
9. For Anonymous Identity, enter: Anonymous Identity
10. The Password is your UIC password.
11. Select Connect
12. Your Kindle should display "Attempting to connect" and then your Kindle should be connected to UIC-WiFi. Note that when you change your UIC password, you will need to forget the UIC-WiFi network, then follow the above steps to reconnect with your new credentials.

Here's a helpful guide to get your Linux-based computer connected to UIC-WiFi. Before starting, download the USER Trust Certificate at http://crl.usertrust.com/USERTrustRSACertificationAuthority.crl 

Step-by-Step Instructions

1. Open Applications and search Advanced Network
2. Select Advanced Network Connections which will open up a list of known networks 
   
3. Click the + sign and select Connection Type
4. 4. In the Choose and Connection Type, select Wi-Fi  and click Create
   
5. In the Connection name box, type in UIC-WiFi and select WPA & WPA2 Enterprise from the drop down menu
   
6. Use the following settings:
   • For Authentication select PEAP.
   • For Anonymous identity type in Anonymous 
   • For Domain leave blank
   • For CA certificate select Select from File and choose the downloaded USERTrust certificate
   • For PEAP version select Automatic
   • For Inner authentication select MSCHAPv2
   • For Username use your NetID
   • For Password use your UIC NetID password
   
   
7. Click Save

You should now be connected to UIC-WiFi. Note that when you change your UIC password, you will need to forget the UIC-WiFi network, then follow the above steps to reconnect with your new credentials.
