About this service

Description The firewall protects the University network from external threats and attacks. Depending on customers’ needs for security, departmental network administrators can place their subnet ranges into different firewall groups with different levels of protection.

Features and tools IP2Fire is a web application that is designed to give IT pros the ability to retrieve firewall group information for a given IP or range of IP's. To view network ranges in IP2Fire, a user must be listed with at least "Read Only" permissions in CDB under the appropriate networks.

How to get the service Requests for inclusion in firewall groups should be submitted by network contacts listed in Contacts Database. Follow the instructions on the Service Participation page, and submit the forms from that page to net-trouble@illinois.edu.

Usage constraints Campus IP space can be defined in the firewalls. 6 IP address groupings per network, utilizing defined firewall groups

Maintenance hours Maintenance windows are the same as the campus Network. Posted maintenance windows are: 5:30am-7:30am M-F, 5:30am-10:00am Sat, and 5:30-noon Sunday.
