About this service

Description Technology Services Data Center is a campus initiative to consolidate campus server rooms and data centers into three high-quality facilities. Through use of shared data centers, the campus can provide higher-quality facilities while reducing overall costs.

Who can use the service Faculty/Staff
How to get the service Varies based upon service need
Cost No charge for research, academia, centers, and institutes. Nominal fee for auxiliaries and other system or state entities.
Usage constraints
  • Data Center web services are run with secure HTTPS.
  • Any Data Center equipment passwords are kept locked in our safe.
  • Environmental monitoring networking is on ACL’ed networks.
  • The Data Center provides locked cabinets for server(s)/service(s) requiring securing sensitive data.

Support and Hours

How to get help During our normal business hours, or for non-urgent needs, (7am – 4:30pm M-F), contact the Technology Services Data Center at 244-8805 or email help@datacenter.illinois.edu.

Outside of normal business hours, or if the need is urgent, contact the Data Center on-call cell at 217-552-8387.  You can send a text message to the Data Center on-call at 2175528387@txt.att.net.
Training and consulting opportunities None listed
Maintenance hours The data center UPSes and HVACs maintenance are performed every 3-6 months.  Service impacting maintenance will be scheduled with customers best interest in mind.  Non-impactful maintenance of equipment is performed during normal business hours to reduce costs of service.
