College of Medicine Informational Resources - Classroom Technology

What Is It?

COM maintains a set of classrooms for teaching and learning. These are also used for student group meetings and can be available for departmental and other meetings as well. Some spaces are given priority for classes.

Room Use

Rooms are reserved in Astra. Room reservations are managed by the College of Medicine Dean's Office Facility and Space Planning team. See their website for details

Please refer to this map for help locating specific buildings: maps.uic.edu

For help using technology in any of the listed rooms, see the Service Offering for Equipment/Room Orientation (A/V support).

Reporting problems

COM manages many more rooms than we have staff. We rely on people using our rooms to let us know when something is not working as intended. Please use the button on this page to Report Classroom Technology Problem of broken, missing, or malfunctioning equipment.

Room Types:

Neat Bars (Zoom Rooms)

These rooms have "neat bars", a Zoom-specific device. You can invite the room to a meeting using its Outlook calendar, and start/run the meeting from the tablet in the room - no additional device required. You can also use the Zoom app on a device like a phone or laptop to simply share in the room without a Zoom meeting, or to share content to a Zoom meeting running in the room. Cameras automatically keep room participants visible during Zoom meetings unless the camera is turned off with the tablet.
