Network File Share

What Is It?

The Network File Share service is a file-sharing resource through which departments can store their files on a Technology Solutions Network Attached Storage system. This service provides a highly redundant, highly available, fully backed-up storage of departmental files. This resource is made available to users whose departments have requested disk space through this service.

Features

  • Disk space is offered at a monthly rate of $0.03 per gigabyte (GB).
  • The files are stored on a Network Attached Storage (NAS) cluster, and users can access their files from multiple computers.
  • Excluding extreme circumstances, it is our goal to have your files available to you 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year.

Requirements

  • Your computer must be on the UIC campus network (either on-campus or connected through the VPN) to connect to shares.
  • You have an active UIC account that has been granted access to one or more shares.
  • You must connect from a computer that supports connecting to SMB file shares. This functionality is built-in to most modern operating systems.
