How do I get an activation token as a student?

You should receive an email from the Office of Admissions with your University Identity Number (UIN) and an activation token.

If you have not received this information from the Office of Admissions, kindly fill out this form here: https://help.osss.uic.edu/portal-connect-help/ to have your activation token regenerated. For the issue, select "forgot token". The team that manages the UIC Portal will then reach out to you via email with a new activation token.

Once you have your UIN and the token, please navigate to the UIC NetID Claim site to activate your netid and set your password. Enter your UIN and activation token then follow the onscreen instructions.

Note: Activation tokens are only issued to accepted students and external affiliations. Faculty/Staff activate their netid via the UINew Hire process.
