If you have a pre-existing premium subscription to Grammarly, you are eligible for a prorated refund if you would like to join the UIC Grammarly for Education pilot. Please read through the directions carefully below before converting your account:
- If you already have a Grammarly account using your UIC email address, simply log in with it.uic.edu/grammarly to link your account to the university's license.
- Follow the directions listed in Joining the UIC Grammarly account.
- Under the Account Panel, click on Account Settings, and then click on Subscription.
- Click Request a Refund if you would like a prorated refund; otherwise, Grammarly will automatically pause your subscription until the pilot ends.
- Please note that the UIC Grammarly Education account does not include the Grammarly Editor for security and FERPA reasons. You will be able to download all of the files you have uploaded to Grammarly before agreeing to join the license.
- If you have a Grammarly premium account associated with a personal email address but would like to switch it to UIC's Grammarly for Education pilot, first log into your personal Grammarly premium account.
- Under the Account Panel, click on Account Settings, and then click to edit your email address.
- Change your personal email address to your UIC email address.
- Follow the directions listed in Joining the UIC Grammarly account.
- Under the Account Panel, click on Account Settings, and then click on Subscription.
- Click Request a Refund if you would like a prorated refund; otherwise, Grammarly will automatically pause your subscription until the pilot ends.
- Please note that the UIC Grammarly Education account does not include the Grammarly Editor for security and FERPA reasons. You will be able to download all of the files you have uploaded to Grammarly before agreeing to join the license. If you would like to discuss your unique case, please contact Grammarly support.
If you are a heavy user of Grammarly Editor and would like to retain your account with all the uploaded files to the Editor, you will not be able to use that account with the UIC Grammarly for Education pilot. You will be able to download all of the files you have uploaded to Grammarly before agreeing to join the license.
However, if you would like to keep your personal account without the prorated refund, you can create your separate UIC account and have both accounts running at the same time.
