How do I setup my UIC Exchange email on my iOS or iPadOS device?

Overview

This article explains how to install and configure the Microsoft Outlook app on an iPhone or iPad to access your UIC Exchange email account. You will sign in with your UIC email address and common password, then complete Duo two-factor authentication (2FA) to finish the setup.

Install Outlook on iOS or iPadOS

You can access your UIC Exchange email using the official Microsoft Outlook app for iPhone and iPad.

1. Download the Outlook for iOS app from the App Store.
2. Launch the app and select “Get Started”
3. Select whether or not to allow the Outlook app to send notifications of incoming email and events.

4. On the “Add Email Account” screen, type your full UIC email (netid@uic.edu), then select add account.
   • It should auto-detect your account type. If it can’t, or is having trouble, a button will appear below “Add Account” that will allow you to choose the account type. If this happens, choose “Microsoft/Office 365”.
     
              
      
5. Enter your UIC password and select “Sign in”
   
         
    
6. Authenticate with Duo 2-Factor Authentication when prompted. Please visit How do I get started with Duo 2FA for more information about Duo.
7. Add another account if desired, or select “Maybe Later”. Swipe through the feature explanations or select skip. The app should now be downloading emails and showing the inbox.
