Research Data Glacier (RDG) is UIC's archival storage system. Data in RDG is stored offline to reduce storage costs. The data steward of a data set in Research Data Glacier Storage (most often the Principal Investigator of the grant project) can request the data set be made available to them by submitting and internal retrieval request. Because there is extra cost to data retrieval in RDG, it is expected that data stewards request data from RDG once a year or less, more frequent requests may incur a fee. The data steward, must submit or approve the request.
- It will take approximately 24-48 hours to bring data sets online after a request is received.
- Data sets will be brought online for 72 hours before they are returned to offline storage. All data must be downloaded within that 72 hour period.
- This form is only for internal data requests. Requests for data from researchers or other individuals from outside UIC must conform with OVCR's policies on data requests.
