What Is It?
The Student Scheduling Request Form is the official mechanism for medical students to make changes to their COM schedule:
**Clerkship scheduling assignments are determined by the M3 lottery. Students will be able to request a track switch with a fellow student between Stage 1 and Stage 2 of the lottery. Students may also request a student-for-student site switch, with someone in the same clerkship, at a later date. Both students must submit the request for a site switch. (No other switches are permitted.)
Who Is Eligible To Use It?
- Third-year medical students
- Fourth-year medical students
- Office of Students Affairs Advising Leads
- COM Deans
How Do I Use It?
Once a student has obtained approval from a department coordinator to add, drop, or rescheduled an elective, they must hit “Submit Scheduling Request” to have their schedule updated.
Requirements for requests include:
- Departmental approval (All requests)

- PDF scheduling form (Away, Research, or Individualized course requests)
- Supporting documentation (Individualized course requests – See scheduling form under Attachments for more details.)
- VSLO acceptance email (Away Rotation requests)
Scheduling requests are processed from 9:00am to 4:30pm, Monday through Friday. (Closed on Holidays.) Please allow 1-2 business days for processing.
