ETS Summer Camp

Who Is It?

The Education Technology Services STEM Summer Camp is an educational outreach program hosted by the UIC College of Education that introduces students to science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) through engaging, hands-on learning experiences. The program encourages curiosity, creativity, critical thinking, and problem-solving by allowing students to explore emerging technologies and scientific concepts in a collaborative learning environment.

Camp participants work with a variety of technologies, including robotics, drones, 3D printing, Arduino, Raspberry Pi, LEGO Robotics, Ozobot, telepresence robots, and other educational technologies. Students also participate in activities related to computer programming, engineering, physics, chemistry, environmental science, animation, multimedia production, web development, simulations, and other STEM disciplines.

The camp is led by UIC faculty, staff, and student instructors who provide guidance through project-based learning, interactive demonstrations, and team activities. In addition to supporting STEM education, the program strengthens community engagement by providing opportunities for students to explore future careers in science and technology while developing valuable 21st-century skills.

Location & Time:

  • Each day, campers meet in the Education Technology Lab, College of Education, UIC, 1040 W Harrison Street. We will send more details later by email.
  • Unfortunately, parking is not available at this location.
  • The camp starts at 10 AM and ends at 4 PM.

Meals:

We will not provide lunch; therefore, every student must bring their own lunch and may not leave the building during lunch. We strongly recommend that participants get a good night’s sleep and have a nutritious breakfast prior to attending each day. This will help them be alert and on task during the sessions.

Documentation and Evaluation:

During some sessions, we will document our STEM program with photos and video clips. Some of these will be included in a report that will be prepared for the Dean of the College of Education. We will also collect observational and short interview information from the students during their involvement; this information will help us improve our work. Participation is completely voluntary. Students will not be graded or evaluated in any certain way.

Volunteering:

During the summer camp, we need people who can make an impact on the community. We are interested in who are passionate about teaching and helping the communities. You will gain personal experience and to improve the lives in the community. If you have a passion for teaching in the natural sciences, robotics, coding, or any topics in science, we would love to have you volunteer for our Summer camp. If you are interested in volunteering for the Summer Camp, please contact us.
