We have a long list of valid departments. This list contains the legal name, Banner org/department code and an ID (used to keep track of the org/department) for every UIC org/department.
When an affiliation is assigned to an individual, the PB Contact selects which org/department the affiliation is under. When this is done, the affiliation is linked to the org/department in our list. When an org/department name is changed, it is changed in one location and displayed for all individuals associated with that org/department.
