How do I migrate files from Google Drive to another storage platform?

This article is intended to be used to migrate large amounts of data.  To migrate a small amount of files, consider manually downloading and uploading the file to your desired location.

To migrate large amounts of data, you will need to make an archive of your Google Drive files.

Make an archive of your Google Drive files

  1. Go to the Download your data page on Google Takeout 
     
  2. Select "Deselect All"

  3. Select Drive and click Next Step at the bottom 


     
  4. Select the desired Destination, archive format (File Type), and Size.

    NOTE: If you plan to migrate your data to Box by selecting, when prompted to log in to Box, be sure to select the SSO option instead of entering a username/password.
     
  5. Click on Create export.
     
  6. Click on "Download your files" in the email you will receive from Google to go to the "Manage your Archives" page.
     
  7. Download the archive by clicking on the Download button in the details column.
     
  8. Upload the files to your desired platform.
