If you have a site on UIC Google Workspace please open a ticket with ithelp@uic.edu. There is a separate process to create those webaliases. Though the process documented below also works it is preferred that Google's webalias service be used instead.

Adding a webalias record

  1. Navigate to eip4.cc.uic.edu and log in using your NetID and password.

NOTE:  You must be on campus or first connect to a UIC network using VPN to access this page.

  2. Select "DNS".

  3. Select "Servers".

  4. Select "eip-dns-smart.cc.uic.edu."

  5. Type in the name of your Zone in the "Name" field and select your zone (e.g. ccts) once located.

NOTE:  You should only see zones that you have permission to edit.

  6. You should see a list of all records associated with that zone. To add a new A record, select the "+" sign.

  7. On the next screen, enter the required information and then click "OK".

Make sure that RR type is "CNAME".
RR NAME:  This is the name of the CNAME.
    HOSTNAME:  This MUST BE webalias-prod-1.cc.uic.edu
DNS Redirect:  The URL of the site you want to redirect to. For example, https://www.uic.edu/mysite

After this redirect is created, navigating to http://<RR Name>.<zone> should redirect you to whatever value you put in the DNS Redirect field.
