Navigate to
eip4.cc.uic.edu
and log in using your NetID/TS Common password.
NOTE: In order to reach this page, you'll need to be on campus, or first connect to a UIC network using VPN.
Select "DNS".
Select "Servers".
Select "eip-dns-smart.cc.uic.edu"
Type in the name of your Zone in the
Name
field, select your zone (e.g. ccts), and select the desired zone, once located.
NOTE: You should only see zones that you have permission to edit.
You should see a list of all records associated with that zone. To add a new A record, select the
+ sign
.
On the next screen, enter the required information and then select
OK
.
NOTE: Make sure that RR type is "A."
RR NAME: This is the name of the A record. This might be, for example, the hostname of a machine.
IP Address: This should be the corresponding IP address for this record.
NOTE: You won't be able to look up available IP addresses from this screen.
To find available IP addresses for a network
Log into
eip4.cc.uic.edu
using your NetID and TS Common password.
NOTE: In order to reach that address from off campus, you will first need to connect to a UIC network using VPN.
On the left-hand side, select IPAM.
Select "Addresses."
Select "Add an IP address by search."
Select "UIC" and click "Next" on the space selection screen.
Select your "network name" and select "Next".
NOTE: This is what would have previously been referred to as a "Zone" in QNET.
Select "no pool" to display IP addresses that are not part of a DHCP pool (i.e. manually assigned IP addresses on that network) and select "Next".
Select "NONE" for IP address class and select "Next".
The next screen will display a list of the first 10 unassigned IP addresses. Select "Cancel" to exit this screen.
Edit an A record
Navigate to
eip4.cc.uic.edu
and log in using your NetID and password.

Select "DNS."
Click on "Servers".
Select "eip-dns-smart.cc.uic.edu"
Type in the name of your Zone in the "Name" field and select your zone (e.g. ccts). and click on the desired zone, once located.
NOTE: You should only see zones that you have permission to edit.
Find the A record you're looking to edit and select it.
Edit the IP address and select "OK".
