Technology Solutions recommends the use of the official Outlook app for iOS. However, if you are running iOS/iPadOS 12 or newer it is possible to connect to the UIC Exchange system using Apple's native Mail/Calendar clients on iOS/iPadOS.
Prior to following the below instructions, you must request approval to use third-party email clients. Review How can I access my UIC email with a 3rd party email client (e.g. Thunderbird, Apple Mail, Android Gmail)?
Once you have received approval to use third-party email clients:
- Open the Settings app.
- Tap on “Passwords & Accounts.” Alternately you may need to select Mail, then Accounts.
- Tap on “Add Account.”
- Tap on “Exchange.”
- Type in your full UIC email address in the “Email” field (ex.: netid@uic.edu).
- Type in a name for the account in the “Description” field. This can be anything you want, such as “UIC” or “UIC Email.”
- Select the option to Sign In.
- Enter your UIC email address into the Username field.
- Enter your UIC password in the Password field. Then select Next.
- You should now receive a Duo 2FA prompt to approve. Please note this prompt will help signify you are using modern and not legacy authentication.
- Select the services you would like to sync with your device. To access email, “Mail” must be selected. Selecting “Contacts” will allow searching in the Global Address Book, as well as the syncing of your Outlook contacts to your device.
- Tap Save.
