Overview
IT Partners provides guidance and support for computing devices used by College of Education constituents. This page outlines:
- Who is eligible to receive IT Partner–supported computers
- What device model applies to each group
- When exceptions may apply
Eligibility and decisions are based on role, appointment status, and College affiliation.
General Eligibility Rule
Eligibility is limited to College of Education–affiliated individuals with an active, non-zero paid appointment.
Funding Responsibility
IT Partners does not provide funding for computer purchases.
- The requesting department/unit is responsible for covering all costs associated with acquiring technology equipment for their faculty, staff, and affiliates
- This includes standard devices as well as any upgraded configurations
- Funding may come from departmental budgets, grants, or other approved sources
Grant-Funded Exception (All Constituent Types)
Individuals from any constituent group may be eligible for an IT Partner–provided computer if fully funded by an approved grant or external funding source.
Requirements
- Funding source must cover the full cost of the device
- Use must align with the purpose of the grant
- Approval from IT Partners and the sponsoring unit is required

Eligible Constituents (Default Eligible)
The following groups are eligible for IT Partner–provided computers:
- College of Education Faculty with non-zero appointments
- College of Education Staff (Academic Professional & Civil Service)
- College of Education Graduate Student Employees
- College of Education Undergraduate Student Employees (role-dependent)
Expectations
- Devices are centrally managed by IT Partners
- Devices are intended for university business use
- Standard configurations and lifecycle policies apply
- Individuals are responsible for returning devices to IT Partners prior to the end of their appointment with the College of Education
- All equipment is acquired, tracked, maintained, transferred, and disposed of in accordance with University Property Accounting policies (Section 12)

Conditionally Eligible Constituents
The following groups may be eligible depending on business need and departmental support:
Faculty & Affiliates
- Faculty with 0% appointments
- Retirees / Emeritus (any appointment status)
- Visiting Scholars
Staff (Non-Standard Appointments)
- Staff Hourly (AC Hourly)
- Staff Extra Help
Requirements
- Documented business need
- Department justification and/or funding
- Approval from IT Partners
Not Eligible Constituents
The following groups are not eligible for IT Partner–provided computers unless covered by the Grant-Funded Exception above:
Outside College of Education
- Non–College of Education Faculty
- Non–College of Education Staff
- Non–College of Education Undergraduate Students
- Non–College of Education Graduate Students
Students (Non-Employees)
- College of Education Undergraduate Students
- College of Education Graduate Students
These groups are expected to use personally owned devices.
Exceptions & Special Cases
Exceptions may be granted on a case-by-case basis.
Approval requires:
- Documented business need
- Identified funding source (department or grant)
- Approval from IT Partners and the sponsoring unit
Catch-All Policy
Individuals not explicitly listed as eligible or conditionally eligible are not eligible for IT Partner–provided computers, unless covered by the Grant-Funded Exception.
