Classroom Technology: University Hall Building (UHB)

Classrooms in the University Hall building have been outfitted with technology to support a variety of teaching modalities. Instructors have the ability to use the in-room technology to project content from the primary display for students in the classroom to view while utilizing the second monitor at the instructor station for content that they do not want to share with the entire classroom. The primary monitor is an annotating touch display, that allows instructors to write, draw, or do other annotating on the display with the stylus to share with the classroom, to capture with the installed lecture capture software, or to share with remote students. The second monitor is great for monitoring remote students, presenter notes, or even having extra content ready to share by simply dragging to the primary display. These rooms are also equipped to support remote students better by providing microphones that capture the instructors as well as the students sitting in the classroom, a camera mounted in the room to capture the instruction that is happening, and a document camera that allows for the sharing of physical content that may be brought into the classroom. Additional functionality for bring your own device is provided in the manner of software on the computer in the room that allows for some tablets to connect and share wirelessly and physical connections that allow for a device to be connected directly to the projection and the in-room microphone(s) and speakers.

The instructor station provides a touch control panel to control the basic functions of the classroom. The touch panel turns the projection on, off, and mutes content, it allows for volume control, and it provides easy transition from the in-room computer to the physical bring your own devices. When utilizing the technology in the classroom for remote students, whether using Zoom, Teams, or other applications the speaker and microphone should be set to Echo Cancelling Speakerphone and the camera should be set to VSW-UHB3082-1.
