Uploading/Deleting Package, Scripts and/or Printers in Jamf
Adding packages, scripts and printers in Jamf is the responsibility of your team. Removing packages, scripts and printers in Jamf is the responsibility of the Technology Solutions Endpoint Management team. To have any of them deleted, please submit a ticket.
Packages must be uploaded in the .pkg format, .dmg will not be accepted.
Uploading Packages
- Create your package using Composer or another packaging software.
- If you do not have Composer, the EAS Team will provide the download for you.
- Upload the package in the .pkg format to Jamf.
- Log into Jamf
- Select Settings -> Computer Management -> Packages
- Select the "+ New" in the top right corner.
- Fill in the "Display Name" and "Notes" boxes
- Select "browse for a file" then upload your package.
- Please note that uploading a package may take some time depending on the size. You must stay on this screen until the upload is completed. Once completed Jamf places the package in "Availability Pending" status with a yellow triangle. The triangle will disappear when Jamf uploads the package to the cloud. This can take about 2 - 10 minutes.
- Select "Save" in the bottom left.
Deleting Packages
- Create a ticket in the Jamf queue for any deletions.
Uploading Scripts
- Create your script and test it on a test machine.
- Upload the script in the Bash, Zsh or Python format to Jamf.
- Log into Jamf
- Select Settings -> Computer Management -> Scripts
- Select the "+ New" in the top right corner.
- Fill in the "Display Name" and "Notes" boxes.
- Select the "Script" tab and paste in your script.
- Any parameters you would like to preset will be done in the "Options" tab.
- Select "Save" in the bottom left.
Deleting Scripts
- Create a ticket in the Jamf queue for any deletions.
Uploading and Mapping Printers
- On a test device, set up the printer and ensure you can print from it.
- After successfully printing, upload a copy of the printer driver to Jamf.
- Next download the Jamf Printer Manager from Jamf’s Github to the test device that was used to test print.

- Next upload your printer driver to Jamf via a package.
- After the printer and driver have been added, create a policy to map your devices through the Printers payload.
- Remember to add the printer package to the policy or you will not be able to print and map the devices.
