Summary
Access is granted through Active Directory, and once a user logs in to the Commvault backup tenant, Tenant Admins can provide additional levels of access.
Body
Before granting user accounts access to your tenant, please note that a user's account can only be granted access to one tenant within the UIC Commvault environment. Granting access to an account in multiple tenants is not supported. Also note that your tenant's Tenant Admins are responsible for revoking permissions from users/admins who leave your unit and should no longer have access.
- Add the user to your tenant access group in the UIC Active Directory. Your tenant access group will be named like "GG-Commvault-<yourTenantName>-Access". If you do not have access to manage the membership of your tenant access group in the UIC Active Directory and would like us to grant you permission to do so, or if are not familiar with Active Directory and would like us to add/remove users for you, please contact us through Ask an IT question.
- The user must log in to your backup tenant to have their account created. By default the user will be added to your Tenant Users group, which has no special permissions. You can grant these users additional permissions on specific objects, such as backup clients, as desired within the Commvault Command Center web interface in the area shown below. To do this:
- Select Protect -> File Servers, then find and select the client's name.
- Select the Configuration tab
- Select Edit under the Security section, and select a user/group and permissions to add in the next prompt.
In this example, the Tenant Users group has already been granted Restore permissions and we are granting the same permissions to "Test User Group".
- After you've selected a group and permissions, select Add, then Save.
- Once their account has been created, you can also add them to the Tenant Admin group to grant them admin rights within your tenant. That can be done by navigating to Manage -> Security, then User Groups. Select the Tenant Admin group, scroll to the bottom of the page, select Add users, and select their user account.
