Overview

Complete the required device management enrollment on your university-managed iPad. This process migrates your device to the new management system and ensures it remains compliant with university policies.

The process takes a few minutes and requires you to log in with your Illinois credentials and complete Duo two-factor authentication.

What's Happening

You may see a notification that says Enrollment Required. This means your iPad must migrate to a new device management service.

During this process:

  • Your iPad will restart
  • You will sign in with your Illinois credentials
  • The device will complete enrollment automatically

Applies To

  • University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign managed iPads
  • iPadOS 26 devices required to migrate to Jamf device management
  • Devices previously enrolled in university device management

Before You Start

Make sure you have:

  • Your Illinois NetID and password
  • Access to Duo two-factor authentication
  • A Wi-Fi connection

The process takes about 2–3 minutes.

How To Complete The Process

Step 1 — Start Enrollment

Your iPad displays an Enrollment Required notification.

Select Start Enrollment.

Step 2 — Restart the iPad

A message appears stating Restart Required.

Select Restart and allow the iPad to reboot.

 

Step 3 — Enroll the Device

After the restart, the iPad shows a Device Management message.

Select Enroll this iPad.

The enrollment process runs for several seconds up to about a minute.

When prompted:

  1. Sign in with your Illinois NetID and password
  2. Complete Duo two-factor authentication

The device continues the enrollment process automatically.

Step 4 — Finish Enrollment

When the process finishes, the screen displays Enrollment Complete.

Select Exit.

Reconnect to IllinoisNet or another Wi-Fi network if necessary.


Problems You May Encounter

Enrollment fails or stops

  • Verify you are connected to Wi-Fi
  • Restart the iPad and try again

Login fails

  • Confirm your NetID and password
  • Verify Duo authentication completed successfully

Will my apps or data be deleted?

No. The enrollment process migrates device management and does not remove your data.

How long does the process take?

Most devices complete enrollment in 1–3 minutes.

What happens if I ignore the enrollment notice?

We have a 1 week window to complete this process. If it is ignored longer then that, we'll need to do a factory reset of the iPad.
