What This Is About
You may receive a message that your computer is eligible for replacement, or you may want to know when you will get a new device. The Computer Lifecycle Program replaces eligible computers on a regular schedule to keep devices reliable and secure.

- College of Education faculty and staff
- University-owned, IT-managed computers (laptops and desktops)

Before You Start
- You are faculty or staff in the College of Education
- Your appointment is 50% or greater and 9 months or longer
- Your computer is university-owned and managed by IT
- Your primary computer is 4 years or older on October 15 of the year

How the Lifecycle Program Works
- IT identifies computers that are 4 years or older on October 15 of the year
- Eligible users are contacted by email
- You choose your replacement device
- You schedule an appointment
- You pick up your new computer and return your old one

What You Need To Do
1. Watch for Your Email
- Review your device details
- Follow instructions to select a new computer
- Schedule your appointment
2. Choose Your New Computer
- Select either a Windows or macOS device
- Review standard recommendations
- Request accessories separately if needed
3. Prepare for Your Appointment
- Move important files to OneDrive or Box
- Sign out of personal accounts in apps and browsers
4. Attend Your Appointment
- Bring your current computer and power adapter
- Receive your new computer
- Return your old computer

Timeline
- The lifecycle replacement process begins in the middle of the fall semester
- Eligible users are contacted starting at that time
- Most replacements are completed before the end of the fall semester
- Timing may vary based on device availability and scheduling

Things to Know
- You must return your old computer when receiving your new one
- IT securely wipes and processes returned devices
- If your computer fails early, IT can help with repair or replacement
- You can reschedule your appointment if needed

Frequently Asked Questions
Can I get a monitor or accessories with my replacement?
No. The program covers the primary computer only.
What if I didn’t get an email but think I’m eligible?
Contact IT with your NetID and computer details.
What if my computer stops working before replacement?
If your computer fails before it is eligible for replacement, IT will repair it and can provide a temporary loaner device if needed
