On A Windows Computer
First Time Setup
Plug in the microphone that will be used for the recording.
Install Audacity from Software Center.
Open Audacity.
In Audacity, select Edit > Preferences.
Select Devices.
Under Recording
Next to Device select the microphone will be used for the recording.
Next to Channels select 1 (Mono).
Select Quality.
Set Default Sample Rate: to 16000Hz
Set Default Sample Format: 16-bit
Select Tracks
Set Default Waveform scale: to Linear.
Restart Audacity.
Record
To start recording, click on Record button in top bar.
To stop recording, click on Stop button in top bar.
To save recording, click on File > Export > Export as WAV.
