To update personal information, biographic information, or photo visibility in the UIS Directory users start by navigating to themselves in the directory.
Once they have located themselves in directory, scroll to the bottom of the information and click the link Edit Employee link.

A Edit My Information window will open that will describe the information that users can update on their own and items that can be updated by submitting a request to the Office of Web and Digital Strategy.
Items users can update on their own:
- Personal information
- Update biography, area of specialization, or area or expertise
- Photo visibility
Personal Information
Users can update their personal information by clicking the My Profile on the My UI Info link on the Edit My Information page.
Once on the My Profile page click the Access My Profile button and login with a NetID and password
After logging in find the block of information to update and click the Edit button. Proceed to update the information and submit the changes. Personal information that is updated will not appear immediately in the directory. It may take up to 72 hours before the changes are visible. Users should refresh their browser when checking the directory information for changes. Should the changes not show in the directory after 72 hours please contact the ITS Help Desk at (217)206-6000 or email techsupport@uis.edu.
Update biography, area of specialization, or area or expertise
Users in the UIS Directory are able to provide a biography, area of specialization, or area of expertise that will be displayed with their information when visitors look them up. To add this information click the Update biography, area of specialization, or area of expertise link on the Edit My Information page.
On the Update biography, area of specialization, or area of expertise page users can enter their information in each of the appropriate fields. Once the user has entered their information they will click the Submit button at the bottom of the page. The UIS Directory will reload to the search box and the user can search for themselves to see the information that was added. These changes take effect immediately.
Photo visibility
Users that do not want their photo to show when visitors search the UIS Directory can click the hide my photo link on the Edit My Information page. This link simply will hide the users photo and cause the UIS Directory to show a generic profile picture instead of the photo from their iCard or custom photo that was submitted.
The hide my photo link changes to a show my icard photo if the user has already chosen to hide their photo. By clicking the show my icard photo link the users profile picture will default to their iCard photo and show when visitors search for them in the UIS Directory.
Items users cannot update on their own:
Custom Photo
Users are not able to change their own photo in the UIS Directory. If a users wants to update the photo that appears in the UIS Directory, they will need to click the Creative Services - Order for Website or Multimedia Production form link on the Edit My Information page. This will take the user to the Office of Web and Digital Strategies Website Project Request Form. Here the user will fill in the appropriate information and upload the photo that they want to have show on the UIS Directory. The Office of Web and Digital Strategy will receive the request and complete it in a timely manner.
