Special Projects

What Is It?

If you are interested in doing a special learning design project, the Center for the Advancement of Teaching Excellence (CATE) has a team of instructional designers available to meet with you to talk you through the process. Please complete this form so we can gather some information about your course. Consultation services are free; however, please note that a cost may be associated with the development of the course.


Learning Design projects pertain to any type of learning that is outside of Banner courses, which have CRNs. The scope of learning design projects can include but are not limited to:

  • Participation in planning and reporting meetings 
  • Course production  
    • Front end analysis, instructional design, storyboarding

    • Graphic production, Video/Audio Production

    • Production of Assessments

    • Authoring

    • QA testing

    • Project Management

  • Analytics tracking 
  • All course files 
  • Digital platform quality assurance and course maintenance, etc.

Who Is Eligible To Use It?

  • Faculty (full-time professors, adjunct faculty, lecturers)
  • Staff

How Much Does It Cost?

There is no cost for consultation services, but there are costs to implement a special project.  The cost will be determined by the amount of time needed to complete the project at a rate of $55/hour. Please note that for most production, every minute of a course accounts for about 4 hours of work.
