COVID-19 Long-Term Equipment Loan

What Is It?

While classes are being conducted remotely, UIC has made available a limited quantity of University-owned laptops and cellular hotspots for temporary loan to students who do not have reliable access to a computer and/or internet at their home.

If you are a current UIC student enrolled in the Spring 2021 semester, and have need of a laptop or cellular hotspot, please read this entire page before submitting the form. Once your status has been verified, and as long as the inventory of devices remains available, on-campus pickup will be coordinated.

Features

If you are unable to come on campus to pick up the device, it will be shipped to your provided mailing address, with a signature being required upon delivery.

Acceptance of a UIC laptop or cellular hotspot constitutes acceptance of the university-owned equipment loan/rental policy.

Requirements

Returning the Equipment

  • Once you graduate or if you stop being a UIC student, you are required to return the equipment to the university.
  • You are responsible for returning the laptop/hotspot when requested, and in the same condition that it was received.
  • You must also make sure to keep the original packaging for returns.
  • The expectations for the return of the laptop/hotspot, including time frame and location, will be communicated at a later time.

Equipment Lost or Stolen

If the laptop or hotspot is lost or stolen, it is your responsibility to report the loss or theft immediately to the UIC Police at (312) 996-2830 and provide Technology Solutions with the case number.

Who Is Eligible To Use It?
