What Is It?
Active Directory Network Storage (ADNS) is a file-sharing resource through which users can store their files on a Technology Solutions file server. This service provides users with highly redundant, highly available, fully backed-up storage of personal or departmental files. This resource is made available to users whose departments have requested disk space through ADNS.
Features
- Disk space is offered in increments of 10GB for a one-time fee of $200 per 10GB.
- The files are stored on a Windows file server, and users can access their files from multiple computers
- Excluding extreme circumstances, it is our goal to have your files available to you 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year
Requirements
- Your computer must be on the UIC campus network (either on-campus or connected through the VPN) to connect to ADNS shares.
- You have an active UIC account that has been granted access to one or more ADNS shares.
- You must connect from a computer that supports connecting to SMB file shares. This functionality is built-in to most modern operating systems.
- Protected health information (PHI) cannot be stored on ADNS file shares.
- ADNS file shares are intended to be used for relatively small amounts of data. The upper limit is effectively about 400GB.
