Recording Studio (Lightboard)

What Is It?

One of the multimedia production services for faculty to create accessible multimedia materials for use in their courses.

The Lightboard Studio allows faculty to record themselves while writing on a tempered, mounted glass board while displaying other relevant materials.

Lightboard videos are ideal for:

  • Flipped model classes
  • Supplemental material
  • Reviewing material
  • Deeper explanations
  • Planned event class cancellations

Where Can I Get It?

Select the Reserve Lightboard Studio button located on this page.

Faculty can make an appointment to use the Lightboard Studio, a dedicated studio for producing instructional video micro-lectures located on the second floor of the UIC Daley Library. The studio enables instructors to produce videos of themselves writing on the board.

Reserve Studio -- The Lightboard Studio requires 48-hour notice for reservations and practice session requests.

How Much Does It Cost?

The use of the Lightboard Studio is free for all UIC faculty and TAs if used for instruction for UIC students.

However, there are potential costs associated with production studio use and editing if for non-credit courses or non-UIC enrolled students.
