NetID Activation (Students)

What Is It?

To access many authenticated university services and create accounts, new students must first activate their UIC NetID.

New students will use the “UIC NetID Activation” page to activate their NetID. Student NetIDs are assigned automatically upon admission.

Features

  • Register for UIC Alert, an optional free emergency notification system
  • Set your password, used to access many Technology Solutions services, as well as most authenticated University of Illinois computing and networking services
  • Register password recovery options for self-service management of your password
  • Set the forwarding of your NetID@uic.edu email address
  •  Create accounts to enable access to additional services

Requirements

To activate a UIC NetID and access Technology Solutions accounts and services you must agree to the Acceptable Use Policy.

Service Request Fulfillment Time Created automatically within 1 business day of being admitted.
Incident Resolution Time An outage of system or process involved in NetID creation and/or password management – restored within 1 business day. NetID Activation problem, individual - 1 business day. NetID creation failure, individual - 3 business days. Correction of identity record errors - Depending on the complexity of error and cross-functional involvement, may take up to 10 business days.
Service Availability NetID Activation applications Available 24/7 In-person password assistance hours & locations: C-Stop in Behavioral Sciences Building, 1007 W. Harrison, First Floor C-Stop in Library of the Health Sciences, 1750 W. Polk Street, First Floor Hours: 9 am – 5 pm, Mon. – Fri.
Maintenance Window(s) Standard maintenance for application updates during approved Technology Solutions maintenance window(s). Database maintenance of directory data and affiliations occurs daily with no downtime.
