How do I resolve permissions issues with Universal Print?

Licensing Requirement

To manage Universal Print printers, Microsoft requires accounts to have both the Universal Print admin role and an active Microsoft 365 A5 license.

Because su- service accounts are not processed through HR, they are not automatically assigned the affiliation roles that grant an A5 license.

Steps to Resolve

To grant your service account the necessary access, your unit will need to procure a license through the WebStore purchasing workflow:

1. Navigate to the University of Illinois Webstore.
2. Proceed through the purchasing workflow and explicitly specify the su- service account (typically by entering its associated email address; e.g., su-netid@uic.edu) during the checkout process.
3. Once the WebStore order processes and administrators assign the license to the designated account, log in with the service account to begin managing your printers.
