Overview

You can block or mark as Spam any unwanted calls and texts (if you have SMS service) using the Zoom Phone service.

Note: When you mark a number as "Spam Calls" in Zoom, it helps identify and block spam numbers campus-wide, reducing unwanted calls for the entire UIC community.

How to block a phone number

Desktop client or mobile app

  1. Sign in to the Zoom desktop client or mobile app.

  2. Select the Phone tab.

  3. Select the HistoryVoicemail, or SMS tab.

  4. To the right of the number you want to block, select the more options icon (). 
    Notes:

    • From your Android device, after selecting the SMS tab, tap and hold the phone number.

    • From your iOS device, after selecting the SMS tab, click the information icon .

  5. Select Block Number, then select Spam Calls or Other Reasons. 

    • Spam Calls: The phone number will be marked as Spam and blocked and submitted to your admin to be marked as spam for your organization.

    • Other Reasons: The phone number will be blocked only for you.

      Note: From the mobile app, you might need to scroll down the list to see the item.

Zoom Web App

  1. Sign in to the Zoom Web App. Select the bottom option to Sign In to configure your account

  2. Select Phone.

  3. Select the Settings tab. Scroll down to Others and locate Block List

  4. Select Manage Block List

  5. Select Add next to Blocked Prefixes will allow you to enter a specific country and area code to block.

  6. Select Add next to Blocked Numbers will allow you to enter a specific phone number to block.

  7. Select the X next to any number in the Blocked Numbers list will remove that number so you can receive calls from that number again. You will be asked to confirm the deletion, select Delete.
