This article provides step-by-step instructions for connecting to UIC's Virtual Computer Lab using the desktop application on both Windows and MacOS.

Updating the Remote Desktop Mobile App
Please remember to update your Remote Desktop mobile app to iOS version 10.5.9 (5433) and/or Android version 10.0.19.1285 by July 19th, 2024, if you already have the app installed. Updating is essential to continue using the remote desktop feature on both iOS and Android platforms.

Part I: Download the Windows Desktop Client
Choose the appropriate version based on your operating system:

Part II: Install the Windows Desktop Client

Step 3: (Optional: Install for all users of this machine) If you are an administrator and prefer to install the application for all users, select the corresponding option. Otherwise, proceed by selecting "Install just for you (tboc)". Select "Install".
Part III: Launch the Windows Desktop Client
MacOS​
Step 1: Install the free Microsoft Remote Desktop 10 app from the Mac App Store via https://apps.apple.com/us/app/microsoft-remote-desktop-10/id1295203466?mt=12
Step 2:

Open Microsoft Remote Desktop.

Click on the "Workspaces" tab.

Click "Add Workspace" to proceed.
Step 3:
Note: Ensure you use the specified URL. The URL in the picture may differ.
Step 6: Double-click on an available desktop host icon.
Step 7: Enter your NetID and common password to authenticate to the virtual desktop.
