How Can I Get Started with Acadly?

Acadly Enterprise brings an improved experience to classes for both students and faculty, by making it possible to use quizzes, polls, discussions, word cloud questions, videos, files, and more, in one application.

How Do I Sign Up for an Acadly License?

There are two ways for instructors to sign up for an Acadly license:

  1. Signing up in Acadly.com with a UIC email address. When you sign up for an Acadly account  a  trial account is activated and you are placed in the Acadly verification queue. Because the basic license is free, a verification is done to confirm that you are an instructor at a higher-ed institution. At any time, even before verification, if you use the Blackboard plugin to import a course to Acadly, all Acadly features will be unlocked immediately.
  2. Signing up via the Blackboard plugin. If an instructor accesses the Acadly plugin from inside Bb, you will be able to sign up and set up a course immediately. Courses created from within Bb have Zoom integration enabled.

We suggest importing a course to Acadly after seeing how Acadly works. To test a course in Acadly, instructors can:

  • Set up their account using the Bb plugin
  • You can find the Acadly plugin on Blackboard under Course Management, in Course Tools:

  • Do not import a course
  • Log in to https://app.acadly.com
  • Create a demo course, try the product, then decide whether or not they want to import a course

What Kind of Acadly Course Can I Set Up?

You can set up 3 kinds of Acadly courses:

  1. Acadly with Bb and Zoom integration (Acadly Enterprise course): Any course created using the Bb plugin would have both integrations enabled by default. If you wish to use the Bb integration but not the Zoom integration, all you have to do is unselect the "this is an online lecture on Acadly" option at the time of lecture/ course schedule creation.
  2. Acadly with Zoom integration, but without Bb integration (Acadly Pro course): This is useful for cases where, say, the LMS course doesn't reflect the actual enrollment, or when you simply does not want to use Bb at all. To create a course with just the Zoom integration, you can log in to Acadly, tap the + button and select Create a Pro course. You will then be shown information about how to create an Acadly Enterprise course before you proceed with the setup. This prompt ensures that if you need Bb integration, you should not proceed further and should instead create the course from within Bb instead.
  3. Acadly without Bb and Zoom integration (Acadly Basic course): To create a course without any integrations, you can log in to Acadly, tap the + button, and select "Create a basic course." However, there is no real advantage of using an Acadly Basic course because:
    1. In an Acadly Pro course, using the Zoom integration is optional.
    2. In Pro courses, apart from the Zoom integration, another benefit is that any exported reports contain students' email addresses, which can help manually sync data with the Bb Grade Center. So it is recommended to create a Pro course, even if one does not use the Zoom integration.
