Course menu hidden and browser displaying Blackboard small screen or mobile view version

After logging into Blackboard on a desktop workstation or a laptop, the left course menu would be collapsed.  This behavior is expected on smaller screens, where content does not fit with the menu open.  So, the menu would automatically close.

This happens on larger screens, when the browser has zoom set to values larger than 100%.  Since the content is zommed in, the screen proportion calculations cause the system to hide the menu and provide a responsive design.  This setting is persistent across browser sessions, so logging out and back in or restarting the browser would not affect it.  The solution is to try a different browser or reset zoom settings.

In various browsers the zoom function is found in different locations, but in general pressing command/ctr and the zero key sets display to 0 zoom.  On Chrome and Firefox you can find a small zoom icon, which can be clicked to change zoom settings.
