What do I do if I am being prompted to switch accounts when I log into Zoom?

If you previously had a Zoom account using your UIC email address, and it was associated with another departmental or university Zoom domain (such as if you purchased access to Zoom via the UofI Webstore prior to March 20, 2020), you will be prompted to switch your account over to the UIC Zoom portal.

When you first log in to uic.zoom.us when you had a Zoom account already, you may be prompted with the following message.

Switch to the new Zoom account

Before you switch, be aware of the following:

  • After you switch, you can still access your own data, such as your meetings and recordings.
  • Your role on the new account will be "member". This role might have fewer privileges than your role on your current account.
  • Your new account might not provide access to all of the features you have on your current account.

Select the button that says: I Acknowledge and Switch

You will then receive an email to confirm the change and activate your account to the UIC Zoom portal with a button link with the text Switch to the new account for you to click. The link will also be provided if the button doesn't work.

You will then see a message that says "Your Zoom Account Switch was Successful" with a sign in button. Your account will be successfully joined to the UIC Zoom portal, allowing you to use Zoom with the UIC Blackboard system.
